Do You Love to Grocery Shop? June 13, 2007

I just read a fun article about a family who is obsessed with using coupons to grocery shop. It is a pretty crazy family, I think, even for my standards – she buys 20 newspapers every weekend and cuts all of the coupons out on Saturday morning, so she can go hit the grocery stores with fistfuls of coupons to use.

When I was reading the article though, the one thing that stuck out at me was when she said she saved $113.15 on her last trip to the grocery store. Not that I want to brag or anything, but quite frankly, that’s not really an amazing number – I’ve done that well, and I don’t have to buy 20 newspapers to do it.

As I said before, I use the Grocery Game to help me save on my weekly grocery bill. I save 40 – 60% every time I go grocery shopping, and that’s so commonplace, if I don’t save at least 40%, I’m upset I didn’t do better.

I don’t have time to get into lots of details tonight, but I am going to get into the Grocery Game stuff later this week, and tell everyone how it’s been going. It’s been 8 months since I first started using the GG, and I’ve had really good luck with it so far. Things have changed since I started using it though, and I wanted to explain those changes, and how it’s affected me.

Make sure to check back later this week for the update – you don’t want to miss it!

I Will be Doing Some Paid Blogging on Here… June 13, 2007

Filed under: blogging,Online Writing Gigs, working at home,Writing for Pay — Hava Lyon @ 2:06 am

Because I am working from home, and I am trying to make ends meet, I need to be able to make money from even my fun blogs like this one!  So, I have decided to do some blogging through some of the “paid-to-post” companies like Blogsvertise.  I have heard a lot of great things about making money this way, so I’m quite excited to get started.  The great news is, I’ll be able to report back on here about the different companies, and tell you my readers which ones are worth it, and which ones to skip.   I hope this’ll be a good helpful process for those of you who are looking to make money this way.

One of the best sites I’ve found that’s out there for this kind of stuff is here – you could spend all night looking through that website!  Well worth reading.

Have a wonderful night,

The Attack of the Spider… June 12, 2007

Filed under: funny stories, spiders — Hava Lyon @ 9:22 pm

Last night, I was in the bathroom, getting ready for bed, and I felt a tickle on the left side of my neck. My hair was down, so I assumed it was my hair brushing against my neck. I reached up with my left hand to idly brush the hair away when I happened to glance in the mirror and see a black spider crawling on my neck!!!!

I completely and utterly freaked out.

You know, you always want to think that under pressure, you’ll remain calm and keep a cool head. You imagine that in a crisis, everyone will fall apart but you, you’ll be the rock who doesn’t get excited or riled up. I have given up all such dreams. No, last night I instead screamed bloody murder and did this wild there’s-a-spider-on-my-neck dance that would have to be seen to be believed. My poor husband comes running into the bathroom, thinking I was dying or something, and all I could do was scream incoherently about there being a spider on the wall or the floor or the counter, I didn’t know but I had just threw it off of me, so I was sure it wasn’t on me and he had to kill it, and IT WAS ON MY NECK! He finally found it, huddled on the floor in a little ball.

“It’s just a little spider!” my husband laughed.

I didn’t happen to think it was that funny, strangely enough.

For the next hour, every time I felt a tickle on my body, or something brush up against me, I did a little mini-freak complete with wild gestures and crazy woman dances. The most amazing part is that I actually admit this on a public forum. Perhaps there’s more “crazy woman” in me than I realized. ;-)
